MCPF North-East (Timur Laut) DLC was invited to participate in a School Crime Prevention Program at Sekolah Menengah Teknik Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, Jalan Ibbetson, Jelutong on 31^st July 2019. The short program entitled Ceramah Pencegahan Jenayah was held in the school’s Dewan Mutiara. MCPF Timur Laut ambassadors comprising of JM Tan (Penang SLC Member / Chairman Timur Laut DLC), Kathiraveloo Thangiah (Treasurer), Teoh Kheng Tatt (DLC Member) and Veera Tehsigen Manikam (DLC Member) spoke on a new School Crime Prevention and Awareness topic “Say ‘NO’ to Social Networking Addiction”. This was followed up by a lively Ceramah delivered by YDH SAC Dato’ Mohamad Anil Shah (Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, RMP Penang Contingent cum MCPF Penang Vice-Chairman [I]) on a very interesting topic “Dangers of Cybercrime and How to Avoid Becoming a Victim”.  Both these short sessions were well received by over 50 School Teachers and 500 4^th / 5^th Formers of this Technical School. The School’s Principal Tuan Mohd Salim bin Mohamed Yusoof invitation to have these two topics covered were deemed as being very relevant to its co-ed Boarding School population. The potentially deadly distraction of Mobile Phones, Positives and Negatives of Social Networking, Steps to overcoming its ‘Addiction’, and how this could even lead to Cyber Bullying was touched upon by the MCPF delegates. Dato’ Anil Shah’s message encompassed Definitions and Types of Computer Crime, Malware and its Threats, Dark Web / Dark Commerce, Hacking, Cyberbullying, Money Muling, Money Laundering, the wide array of Scams being faced by society today (Parcel, Love, Black Money, Macau, Investment) and On-Line Gambling.
Also in attendance from RMP Penang were YDH Som Sak A/L Din Keliaw (Deputy HOD, CPCSD), DSP Sathasivam A/L Maniam (DSP Community Policing), ASP Donny A/L John Jubang (representing IPD Timur Laut), Insp Mohd Khairul Izaat bin Md Nasir (School Liaison Officer), Sub-Insp 117195 Rahmat bin Din (OC, Balai Polis Kg Baru) and Sjn 102930 Mohd Basri bin Maydin (Dep OC, Balai Polis Kg Baru). Among the crowd were Encik Abdul Qalam bin Abd Hamid (Senior Supervisor, HEM Timur Laut District Education Office), Puan Lai Yit Peng (Sr. Asst. for Co-Curriculum), Encik Noor Azman bin Mohd Yusof (Sr. Asst. HEM Sekolah) and Mr. Jarmy Goh of JR Integrated Safety Solution (also a Barat Daya DLC Member).
