
MCPF Penang Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar Syed Ali, Deputy Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ K. Pulayantran, SLC Member / SPU DLC Chairman Munusamy Muniandy, SLC Member / SPS DLC Secretary Kapt. (PAB) Paramguru Balan Moghan and SLC Member / Timur Laut DLC Chairman JM Tan were all in attendance to support the Royal Malaysia Police Crime Prevention and Community Safety Program in conjunction with the 2019 Thaipusam Festival. They were guests of the Thaneer Panthal of PDRM located at the junction of Jalan Utama and Jalan Brown on 21st January 2019. The highlights included having a short, light breakfast at the Thaneer Panthal together with YDH CP Dato’ Narenasagaran Thangaveloo, the newly appointed Chief Police Officer of Penang and his Senior Police Officers including YDH SAC Dato’ Mohamad Anil Shah, Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department Head; YDH SAC Zaharulhisham bin Ahmad, Head of Special Branch. VIP attendees who joined our men in blue included YB RSN Rayer, Member of Parliament for Jelutong and YB Ram Karpal Singh, Member of Parliament for Gelugor.

Goodie Bags containing tips on how the community at large can help to prevent crime “Bersama Kita Mencegah Jenayah” were handed out to the milling crowd. Many had their precious photo op taken with CP Dato’ T. Narenasagaran and other VIPs. The MCPF Penang delegates accompanied CP Dato’ T. Narenasagaran in the walk to the base of the Sri Balathandayuthapani Devasthanam Waterfall (Hilltop) Temple. It was also a pleasure to have had Datin Shamala Retnam join in for the festivities. This walkabout and high profile policing / greeting and meeting with not only the general public, Hindu devotees and even foreign visitors underlines that the Police and the Community are always together.
