On Friday 20^th December 2024 MCPF Penang SLC Member Mr. Joseph Sawaremuthu was invited by Kelab Bell Tamil Pulau Pinang (KBT PP) as a guest speaker to deliver a talk entitled “Masalah Buli Dan Budaya Sekolah Menengah” (“Bullying Problems and Secondary School Culture”) at SJK (T) Rajaji, No. 1, Kampung Baharu, 11400 Air Itam, Penang. KBT PP also invited 2 other speakers from their organization (Chairman Mr. R. Muniandy and Treasurer Mr. Ramadass) and one other Independent Speaker (Puan Anne Mary) to speak to around 50 Std 4, 5 and 6 students. Also in attendance were two other KBT PP Committee Members (Puan Zarina and Mr. Sharma). SJK (T) Rajaji school staff present were Senior Assistant Cikgu Jacqueline and Cigku Santhain Kogila and Cikgu Malar. Mr. Joseph Sawaremuthu’s talk covered the Types of Bullying; Impact to the victims, the bully and bystanders. Joseph also shared his own experiences as an ex-Prison staff in Penang Prison & Pulau Jerejak. Four aspects covered were 1. Henry Gurney School in Melaka; 2. Life in Prison; 3. Prison Environment; and 4. Caning, photos and types of canes (rotan) being used.
