MCPF SPT DLC held a Crime Prevention School Program at SJK Jit Sin A / SJK Jit Sin B, Bukit Mertajam, SPT on 22nd October 2018. A good sized audience of 350 students and teachers were in attendance in this program which was well supported by Royal Malaysia Police SPT’s ASP Low and his Team. A heart-warming episode of this talk was that a student approached ASP Low immediately after the talk to share that she was traumatized by the bullying at home by her mother. Alongside with the SPT Officers from the Social Welfare Department and the Education Department an immediate on-the-spot effort was made to get into more details pertaining to the feedback from this student. It was decided that an official Police report would be lodged and the follow-up to this case will be in the professional hands of the Social Welfare Department. This is something that MCPF Penang should be proud of. Its efforts to reach out to School Students / Teachers / PTAs must be commended and further pursued with vigor. Whilst this particular case was reported out at the program itself, we must be cognizant of the fact that our Crime Prevention Awareness Programs for School Students will reach out to Students, Teachers and even Parents / Guardians to having better knowledge and confidence to raise concerns and issues at schools or even in their homes / neighborhood environment.
