In the third of a series of Seminars focusing on contemporary issues and threats, this interactive one-day seminar entitled “Dialogue on Hospitality Industry: Security Threats and Vulnerabilities” was organized by MCPF Penang in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Security Council, Penang; Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) Penang Contingent.

The seminar’s official address and opening was by YDH CP Abdul Ghafar bin Raja, Chief Police Officer, Penang who delivered a Thematic Paper “Global Terrorism and the Need for Securing Our Future”. The five speakers for the day were MCPF Penang’s Deputy Chairman Associate Professor Dr. P. Sundramoorthy (“Overview of Terrorism and Radicalization”); Capt. (R) Rusli Abdul Rahman, the Deputy Director-General, Chief Government Security Office, Malaysia (“Threat to Key Points: Protection to Hospitality Industry”); MCPF Penang SLC Member Ching Eng Leong – also Honeywell Aerospace Avionics Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. Regional Security Manager for Asia Pacific (“Travel Security and Impact”); MCPF Penang SLC Member JM Tan (“CPTED – Convergence of Security Design”) and ACP Normah bte Ishak, Counter Terrorism, Special Branch, Bukit Aman Police HQ Kuala Lumpur (“The Realities of Terrorism to Hospitality Industries”).

The seminar culminated in a Panel Session moderated by Dr. P. Sundramoorthy alongside the distinguished panel of Capt. (R) Rusli Abdul Rahman, ACP Normah bte Ishak and MCPF SLC Treasurer Harikumar Katherasen (also the Organizing Chairman of this Event). Dato’ Syed Jaafar Syed Ali, Chairman, MCPF Penang delivered the closing address.
