On this 218th Police Day, we extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Royal Malaysia Police for their unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to maintaining law and order.

As one of the most vital institutions in the nation, the police force plays an indispensable role in safeguarding public safety, ensuring justice, and upholding the rule of law.

Throughout the years, our police officers have faced evolving challenges — from crime prevention and traffic enforcement to cybercrime, terrorism, and community policing.

Despite these increasing demands, they continue to serve with courage and professionalism, often putting their lives at risk to protect the people.

While we honour their service, it is also crucial to continuously improve and strengthen the force to meet the expectations of a modern society.

To ensure public safety at all times, we suggest the following improvements:

1. Enhanced Training & Professional Development – Officers should be equipped with the latest policing techniques, crime investigation methods, and crisis management skills, ensuring they are prepared for emerging threats, including cybercrime and financial fraud.

2. Greater Community Engagement – Building trust between the police and the community is essential.

Initiatives such as community policing, dialogue sessions, and public outreach programmes can help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the people.

3. Accountability & Transparency – The implementation of body cameras for all officers and a strengthened Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) will help reinforce integrity, reduce misconduct, and build public confidence in law enforcement.

4. Better Welfare & Mental Health Support for Officers — Policing is a demanding profession, and officers often endure high levels of stress.

Improved working conditions, better mental health support, and fairer remuneration are necessary to ensure their wellbeing.

5. Use of Advanced Technology & Data-Driven Policing — Investing in modern technology, such as AI-driven surveillance, predictive policing tools, and digital forensic capabilities, will improve efficiency and crime prevention efforts.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us stand in solidarity with our police officers, acknowledging their sacrifices while also striving to strengthen the force for a safer, fairer and more just society.
