MCPF Penang Advisor Y.Bhg. Assoc Prof (Honorary) Dato’ Dr. P Sundramoorthy attended a Program Sahsiah Terbilang Buli at SM Sains Tun Syed Sheh, Bkt. Mertajam on 22^nd September 2023. The program focused on the Launching Guidelines for the Management of Bullying and Sexual Misconduct in Educational Institutions. The Program was officiated b YB Fadhlina binti Sidek, Minister of Education. This ‘Garis Panduan’ (Guidelines) was an outcome from recommendations made by the national “Jawatankuasa Khas untuk meneliti pengendalian kes-kes Buli dan Gangguan Seksual di Institusi Pendidikan” (Special Committee to Investigate the Handling of Cases of Bullying and Sexual Harassment in Educational Institutions which Dato’ Dr. P. Sundramoorthy served on for five months in 2022 that was announced by then Education Minister Y.Bhg. Datuk Radzi Jidin and chaired by the retired Director General of Education Y.Bhg. Datuk Habibah Rahim. The Special Committee was composed of diverse individuals from former senior Government officials, lecturers, counsellors, legal officers and representatives of NGOs. The members of the committee included Datuk Sutinah Sultan; Datuk Sulaiman Wak; Professor Datin Mariani Md Nor; Lt. Associate Colonel (PA) Aminuddin Awang; Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheik Abdul Aziz; Dato’ Dr. P. Sundramoorthy and Assistant Commisioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan. MCPF Penang looks forward to being updated on the Guidelines in particular with Bullying in Schools as it is commitment to further refinements in its joint efforts on this together with Penang State Education Department / District Education Offices; PDRM School Liaison Officers and other stakeholders.
