MCPF Penang was in attendance at the Press Conference on “Penang Goes Orange 2025” held at KOMTAR Auditorium Level 5 on Monday 6th October 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. The Penang Goes Orange Program is led and coordinated by PWDC with this being the 12th Edition. This year’s theme is “Break the Silence: Jangan Dok Diam”
Summary Brief:
1. In her Opening Speech YB. Puan Lim Siew Khim, EXCO Pembangunan Sosial, Kebajikan dan Hal Ehwal Bukan Islam (Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Affairs) thanked all affiliates and press for their support and presence. She emphasized that every citizen has the right and responsibility to stop Domestic Violence against Women and Children. From the data shared, the trend of violence has been increasing rapidly every year. YB Lim Siew Khim also emphasized that Domestic Violence is not only about the ‘Victims’ but also not reporting such cases by the ‘Victim’ and apathy by witnesses leading to ‘Bystander Effect’ situation by family members, relatives, friends and neighbours.
2. In her speech YBhg. Dato’ Ong Bee Leng Chief Executive Officer of PWDC shared that every single act by people, either by contacting the authorities, providing immediate help, or giving advice, will help reduce ‘Domestic Violence’ with the ultimate aim of stopping such violence.
3. The main event and opening will be officiated by Penang’s Chief Minister YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeo during the Main Event which will be held at The Esplanade (Padang Kota Lama) on Saturday 13th December 2025 from 5.00pm to 10.00pm.

It is envisaged that once again MCPF Penang will participate in having an Exhibition Booth to reach out to the public on pertinent Crime Prevention paraphernalia covering Anti-Bullying, Anti-Scams / Cybercrimes, Anti-Drugs, etc.
