
MCPF Penang helped to facilitate a positive meeting between MCPF Federal and Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) Penang at the Main Conference Room of WCC Penang on 16th December 2022. Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ong Poh Eng (Chairman, MCPF Penang) was accompanied by JM Tan (Secretary) and Felix Chuah Gim Chuan (SLC Member / Chairman, MCPF Timur Laut DLC) in a meeting attended by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Ayub bin Yaakob (Senior Vice-Chairman, MCPF); Y.Bhg. Datuk Kamarudin Md. Ali (EXCO, MCPF); Puan Wan Su Hj. Haron (EXCO, MCPF) and Encik Norazlan Haji Idris (Corporate Manager, MCPF Secretariat). The host were Ms Loh Cheng Kooi (Executive Director, WCC) and Ms S. Mangleswary (Service Manager, WCC). Ms Loh shared good update on WCC since its inception in 1985; its two main offices in Penang Island and Butterworth; WCC’s 3 Main Objectives of Services, Outreach and Advocacy; cooperation with OSCC (One Stop Crisis Centres) of 6 Government Hospitals in Penang; Literature on sexual abuse of children in BM, English, Mandarin, Tamil, Iban and Kadazan); Training of Trainers (ToT) to teachers; increasing awareness via webinar & e-Posters and raising of funds through WCC’s Value Shop in Island Plaza, Penang.. The discussion covered aspects of proposed cooperation between MCPF & WCC including implementing WCC’s ‘OK Tak OK’ programs; sponsoring ToT programs for ‘OK Tak OK’ to MCPF Members and other Education reps from schools and Institutions of Higher learning; publication of ‘Lisa & her Secret’ for focused audiences and use of social media to enhance further awareness of domestic violence and child abuse.
