MCPF Penang State Liaison Committee held its 2nd Meeting for 2019 at RMP Penang HQ Main Meeting Room on 23rd May 2019 chaired by its Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar Syed Ali. In his Welcoming Address Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar welcomed all in attendance and announced the reappointment of all existing SLC Members… an announcement that had been eagerly awaited by all following recent top level organizational changes at the Federal Level and subsequent official announcements of SLC Chairmen by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah binti Dr. Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister cum MCPF Chairman. Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar underlined the anticipated major programs for year 2019 to focusing on school activities and drug abuse matters. This was followed by a briefing on crime statistics for Penang State by ASP Hilmi of CPCSD, RMP Penang HQ. Vice-Chairman (II) Rosli Mohamed Ali shared on the new Organizational structure and operational expectations of both the SLC and the DLCs. The SLC line-up remains intact and strengthened with the welcomed return of M. Kaleessvaran. MCPF DLC Chairmen for 2019/2020 named were James Mohan (South-West [Barat Daya]), JM Tan (North-East [Timur Laut]), Munusamy Muniandy (Seberang Perai Utara), EL Ching (Seberang Perai Tengah) and Paramaguru Balan Moghan (Seberang Perai Selatan). Congratulations to all SLC Members and DLC Chairmen appointed and thanks to Chairman Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar for his confidence and continued support / leadership. Vice-Chairman (II) YDH SAC Dato’ Mohamad Anil Shah (also Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department) headed a short discussion on the status of Crime Prevention Clubs in Schools and the role of MCPF in ensuring that the activities of these clubs to be more impactful. A White Paper already drafted by SPT DLC will be adopted by all 5 DLCs for consistency of purpose and efforts. The usual review of matters arising from previous SLC Meeting and a sharing of the Financial Status by Treasurer Harikumar Katherasen followed suit. Other matters were briefly touched on and meeting was called to close.
