On 18th January 2018 MCPF Penang, in collaboration with the Security Department of Universiti Sains Malaysia successfully held a Professional Discourse event that was delivered by Dr. Peter Reuter, Professor in the School of Public Policy – Department of Criminology in the University of Maryland. Dr. Reuter is also a Senior Economist at RAND Corporation. Dr. Peter Reuter shared his perspectives on the topic entitled “The Challenge of estimating Heroin Prevalence and Drug Related even in a Data Rich Environment: Learning from the US Failure.”
In the interactive session, Dr. Reuter fielded questions from the audience present.
MCPF Penang Chairman Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar Syed Ali welcomed the audience present and this was followed by the Opening Speech which was delivered by Professor Dr. B. Vicknasingam, Director of Drug Research and Medicines, USM. MCPF SLC Member James Mohan lighted up the session as the Master of Ceremony.
MCPF Penang appreciates the great support shown by our Chief Police Officer YDH CP Dato’ A. Thaiveegan who, in spite of his very tight schedule, turned up for the event, demonstrating his keenness to imbibe inputs and ideas as to how the menace and scourge of Drugs can be battled more aggressively.
