A highly successful Youth Empowerment Symposium (YES) Program was held at ILP Arumugam Pillai, Nibong Tebal, SPS on 22nd February 2020. This Program organized by MCPF SPS DLC, RMP Penang, VIVEKKAM, Youth and Sports Ministry and 10 other Indian NGOs was officially closed by YDH CP Dato’ Narenasagaran Thangaveloo, CPO of Penang and attended by over 500 students of Private / Public Universities, other Institute of Higher Learning and Polytechnics. Attendees from MCPF Penang included Chairman Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Syed Jaafar Syed Ali; Secretary / SPT DLC Chairman Dr. EL Ching; SLC Member / SPS DLC Chairman (and one of the prime movers and initiators of this program) Paramaguru Balan Moghan; SLC Member / Barat Daya DLC Chairman James Mohan; SLC Member / SPU DLC Chairman Munusamy Muniandy; SPS DLC Secretary Arumugam Rajoo and SPS DLC Member Visva Raj. PDRM Penang attendees included YDH Supt. Shafee bin Abd. Samad (OCPD SPS Penang / MCPF SPS DLC Advisor); DSP Sathasivam (Community Policing, JPJKK); DSP Mogan (Pegawai Turus Ketenteraman Awam IPK, P. Pinang) and ASP Nagin (Pegawai Operasi D9, IPK P. Pinang). NGOs in attendance included Dr. Asaithamy Ramayah, President of VIVEKKAM Malaysia and representatives from 20 Penang Indian NGOs. Distinguished Speakers included Dr. Mohammad Rahim Kamaluddin (Criminologist & Senior Lecturer UKM / MCPF Member); Mr. Anthony Raja (MD and Business Head); Mr. JK Wicky (Motivational Speaker); and Prof. Ir. Dr. Srimala Sreekantan (School of Materials and Mineral Resources, USM Transkrian). The prime objective of this YES Program is to build the capacity and capability of Youths to become competent citizens, Empowering our Youths towards positive social development, Creating Awareness on Crime Prevention, Producing a human capital resource that can contribute positively to the well-being of our society and to understand the current issues that are happening within the society and communities of our country. The participants were thoroughly enthralled by the messages shared by the various speakers and took into cognizance the emphasized key points further iterated by CP Dato’ Narenasagaran Thangaveloo during his Closing Address.
