On the Monday of January 19, 2015 – the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation Penang Chapter conducted a Visit and Study Trip to the Singapore National Crime Prevention Council.

EIGHT members of the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) Penang liaison committee returned from their recent visitto Singapore richer in experience and knowledge.
MCPF Penang state liaison committee member Johnny Michael Tan said the study tour gave them a better understanding of key crime prevention programmes and initiatives carried out by the Singapore National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC).
“The use of technology, particularly the extensive deployments of CCTVs to combat the ever changing patterns of crime, was also shared.
“We learned that Singapore had a highly successful television series ‘Crime Watch’ which also helped increase crime awarenessamongst the Singapore population,” he said.
Tan said they also presented an overview of MCPF’s various crime awareness and prevention activities to the Singaporeans.
The delegation was led by MCPF Penang chairman Datuk Syed Jaafar and Penang deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan.
Supt Zainuddin Mahadi of the newly established Crime Prevention and Community Security Department of the Penang police was also a part of the delegation to Singapore.
